What harm reduction means in practice

For me it is about what we can add to someone's life and support system rather than what we can or should be taking away from them in order to promote and encourage healing. Destigmatizing and decolonizing the guilt and shame that comes with needing help and supporting folks by meeting them where they are at.

Communities, movements & lineages that shaped this work

My most influential experiences with harm reduction have come from mentorship with other Indigiqueer and Two Spirit folks during the process of reconnecting with my heritage and community as a teenager and young adult. Learning about decolonization meant that my approach to helping others needed to be informed by sacred practices that are heavily rooted in what we understand today to be harm reduction. Being a recipient of harm reduction services has also influenced this.

Trainings, certifications & community lineages

Currently enrolled at CSUS part-time. Intending to begin a graduate cohort for Gender Studies in Fall of 2027.
